About Our Doctor

Hello everyone. I am Dr Akash Wakchaure, currently practising as Consultant Pediatric Neurologist and Epileptologist in Nashik road. My vision is to provide scientifically based, comprehensive, and effective diagnosis and management  of pediatric patients with neurologic diseases. This will help decrease the burden of co –  morbidities that follow after a chronic neurologic disease.

My aim is to improve the awareness regarding pediatric neurologic diseases in the society, so that a timely intervention in terms of diagnosis and management would help arrest the progression of neurologic diseases.

I also have an expertise in treating rare disorders like Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), Duchenne muscular dystrophy, neurodegenerative diseases, etc. I have worked as clinical assistant in international research trial – DMD (Exon skipping 51 and 53) in Royal Institute of Child Neurosciences, Ahmedabad.

Facilities:

VEP – It measures the electrical activity generated in the visual cortex in response to visual stimulation. It helps in identifying a damage in the optic pathway.

BERA – It is a hearing test which is performed to identify the hearing defect/ threshold in the children.

ERG – It measures the electrical response of various types of cells in the retina.

NCV – Also known as nerve conduction velocity, helps in identifying the speed of lectrical signals through the nerves of both Upper limbs and Lower limbs.

EEG – It’s a test to measure electrical activity in the brain. It helps in identifying a correct location of electrical discharges which are responsible to cause a seizure. EEG also helps in confirming and diagnosing many self limited epilepsy syndromes as well as epileptic encephalopathies  presenting in the early childhood.
